ConsiderThis Speaker Series w/ Bishop Gene Robinson

  • duPont Manual High School

Kentuckiana Pride Foundation is a proud partner in this event.

Until the last half century, homosexuality has been treated as both an illness and, in some places still, a crime. Much of this negative thinking is based upon the sacred texts of Christianity, Judaism and Islam which SEEM to condemn it. Recent scholarship has led to another, more positive and affirming view, both within society and within some religious bodies. Even more recent is our understanding of the transgender experience. This talk will articulate what brought us to this new place of understanding, and how one can be both LGBT-affirming AND faithful to our religious teachings.

Inaugural UofL Homecoming Kick-Off Party

  • Play Dance Bar

Kentuckiana Pride Foundation, University of Louisville LGBTQ Network, and PLAY Dance Bar are proud to announce the “Inaugural Official Homecoming Kick-Off Party" for the LGBTQ Organization.

This event is the first ever of this kind at the University of Louisville, and no other school in the State of Kentucky has sanctioned such an event for the LGBTQ community by giving them a chance to be acknowledged as part of homecoming week and show support. The significance of this homecoming party is to not only bring together all the UofL fans abroad, but also to shed a positive light on the LGBTQ Community and it’s outstanding members and what they have to offer to the community.

This event is also a kick-off to UofL's Pride Week-Come Together Kentucky Conference 2016 November 3-6. CTK is an annual LGBTQ+ themed conference for college students to come together throughout the state. The key note speaker for this conference will be Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player.

This homecoming kickoff party will take place Friday, October 21st, at Play Louisville, 1101 E. Washington Street Louisville, KY 40202. If you wear your UofL attire, you will gain free admission between 8 and 10.

There will also be a benefit for the House of Ruth going on, and donations will be accepted at the door. There will be special guests speaking; you never know who will be there; it surely is an event you definitely don’t want to miss!
